$1,100 towards $1,000

Help me support both Freedom 4/24 and Street Ransom by donating to my fundraising effort through the Hokie Half Marathon on September 23.

This is my second year running the Hokie Half in support of Street Ransom and Freedom 424. I was so encouraged last year by the donations of friends, family members, and even people I had never met. The money really makes a huge difference.

While both Freedom 424 and Street Ransom are amazing organizations that are fighting human trafficking in different ways, Street Ransom is especially important to me. As of right now, there are no crisis shelters in Virginia that help minors who are rescued from human trafficking. This often leaves minors being sent to juvenile detention centers for their own protection. Street Ransom is raising money to open the first crisis shelter in Virginia for minors who are escaping human trafficking. Imagine the difference it could make in the life of a fourteen year old girl to instead of being dropped in a juvenile detention facility, to be taken to a beautiful, safe, nurturing environment where they can recover and receive the special support they need in one of the most difficult life situations I can imagine.

The shelter is not yet open because not enough money has been raised to cover the cost of running the shelter. Please help us in our push to raise money and get the shelter open by donating to me or one of our other runners!

Throughout the training process my goal is to raise $1,000 for victims and survivors of human trafficking. The funds I raise will go towards Street Ransom, a non-profit providing direct services to trafficking and sexual exploitation victims in Roanoke. The funds will also support Freedom 4/24 and their international partners working on the front lines with victims and survivors of human trafficking in India, Uganda, and Thailand. Join me as I run for freedom in Blacksburg, Virginia and give a voice to the voiceless.
