$1,058 towards $1,000

Who knew sex trafficking was an issue close to home? In 2016, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center reported 106 cases of sex trafficking in Virginia, ranking 15th in the country. Virginia did not criminalize sex trafficking until 2015, and the loose laws in our state and the proximity to Interstate 81 has made Roanoke a key location for traffickers to recruit and sell their victims.

Join me as I take my advocacy a step further by running and fundraising on behalf of Freedom 4/24 and Street Ransom in the Hokie Half Marathon on September 22nd.

Throughout the training process my goal is to raise $1,000 for victims and survivors of human trafficking. In addition to fundraising, as I train I will write the names of trafficking survivors on my arms, as motivation and a reminder of who I'm running for. The funds I raise will go towards Freedom 4/24 and their international partners working on the frontlines with victims and survivors of human trafficking in India, Uganda, and Thailand. The funds will also support Street Ransom, a non-profit providing direct services to trafficking and sexual exploitation victims in Roanoke. Join me as I run for freedom in Blacksburg, Virginia and give a voice to the voiceless.
