Fundraise 4 Freedom: Christine's House Nursery

Christine's House is a safe house in Gulu, Uganda for girls who have been sexually exploited. This is a place where stories of discrimination, trauma, despair, and hopelessness are turning into stories of healing, forgiveness, joy, and opportunity.

Girls who graduate from the program at Christine's House have the opportunity to attend a full time vocational school, which shares a campus with Christine's House. At the vocational school, they receive the training needed to support themselves financially and be self-sufficient. There is, however, an urgent barrier for many of the girls who graduate from Christine's House. Following the typical trend of women who are accepted into the program at Christine's House, over 50% of these teenage girls are pregnant as a result of their abuse and trauma.

Girls who have babies are unable to attend the vocational school because there is currently no nursery to care for them. These young mothers deserve to have every opportunity given to them to succeed. They deserve to continue on to the vocational school along with their classmates who do not have children.

Freedom 4/24 is building a nursery to fill this gap. This safe, nurturing environment will employ several full-time staff members and will allow the young mothers from Christine's House to transition without any barrier to the vocational school. The nursery will be in walking distance to Christine's House and the vocational school.
