A few short months ago, I had no idea that human trafficking was happening so close to my own home, but then someone with Street Ransom approached me and told me that human trafficking is happening right here in Roanoke. After hearing about this opportunity to advocate for survivors and potential victims of human trafficking both in Roanoke and abroad, I knew I had to get involved. That's why I'll be running in the Hokie Half this year. I want to raise money to help those who have been victims of cruelty and to raise awareness so that we may prevent this from happening to others. Throughout the training process my goal is to raise $1,000 for victims and survivors of human trafficking. The funds I raise will go towards Freedom 4/24 and their international partners working on the front-lines with victims and survivors of human trafficking in India, Uganda, and Thailand. The funds will also support Street Ransom, a non-profit providing direct services to trafficking and sexual exploitation victims in Roanoke. Join me as I run for freedom in Blacksburg, Virginia and give a voice to the voiceless.
