There are tons of worthy causes and deciding to run 13 miles isn't worth a single dollar. Its not that hard and its certainly not inspiring. My appeal is simple - people are in trouble and we are called to to help the poor and defenseless - that's worth $10.
Simple stats are frequently misleading, but on the basis of total quantities, slavery is becoming more of a problem, not less.

At the very least this is astonishing, at worst it means that our sense of civilized progress is a terrible illusion. Regardless, it is testament to the fact that evil persists and must be fought to a standstill in every era.
I believe this is important enough that:
