Join us as we run and fundraise on behalf of Freedom 4/24 and Street Ransom in the Hokie Half Marathon on September 23.

Our names are Levi and Jess, and we met and began dating through our involvement in a Christian ministry during our time at Penn State University. Since college, Levi has been working in York, Pennsylvania, as a structural engineer, and Jess has been working at Street Ransom through a Fellows program in Roanoke, Virginia. We recently got engaged at the Roanoke Star, and we are excited to kick off our engagement by running the Hokie Half together on behalf of Street Ransom and Freedom 4/24!

From the beginning, our relationship has been grounded on Christ's love for us and the world. It is very important to each of us to use the resources that God has given us to serve others (even including our own legs to run!). Levi is excited to run his second half marathon and raise awareness of human trafficking and empower victims and survivors. Although Jess has always disliked running (a strong understatement), she is ecstatic to run for a cause that has been so close to her heart since high school.

Although many still believe that sex trafficking only takes place overseas or in big cities, this issue is everywhere. Sex trafficking is a $99 billion industry worldwide, and has only been growing as more reports have been filed in each of our 50 states. A Homeland Security Victim Assistant Specialist reported that seven juvenile victims of sex trafficking have been recovered in Virginia from January to March of 2018- all of whom need shelter services and emergency care. Currently, Street Ransom is developing the only crisis center specifically for juvenile survivors of sex trafficking in Virginia, and we need your help to open our doors as soon as possible!

Would you consider donating to Freedom 4/24 and Street Ransom by partnering with us to take a stand against modern day slavery?
