Join me as I take my advocacy a step further by running and fundraising on behalf of Freedom 4/24 and Street Ransom in the Hokie Half Marathon on September 23.

Hi, my name is Rachel Broughton and I'm currently in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Texas State University. Let me start by saying I've never enjoyed running more than a couple miles outside of sports. So, you might be wondering why I've decided to run a half marathon. The answer to this question is multifactorial: 1. I enjoy finding new ways to challenge myself physically and 2. my sister, Rebekah Broughton, threatened me to participate. Anyone who has met Rebekah knows she's too sweet to actually do such a thing, but what she has done is opened my eyes to the reality of sex trafficking.

It's sad and sickening to think that people are capable of exploiting other people in this way. This type of evil is infuriating, and I won't stand for it -- so that's why I'm going to run for it! This race allows me to advocate for individuals who have experienced extreme darkness and help bring healing, hope and restoration to victims by supporting the efforts of organizations like Street Ransom and Freedom 4/24. My goal is to raise $1,000 for victims and survivors of human trafficking. Thank you for your generosity in supporting me and these organizations so that we can raise awareness and provide direct services to trafficking and sexual exploitation victims.
